What Kind Of Snake Should I Get?

By admin Posted in: expo

Having a little trouble deciding on what kind of snake I should get. I have friends that have rat snakes and corn snakes. Both seem like a good kind of snake but I have also heard good things about milk snakes. Im going to the indiana reptile expo in february so I’d like to haave a good idea of what I shout get by then. Any advice and suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Well first of all they are all good starter snakes. A rat snake gets about 42- 72 inches long. Corn snakes get around 48-62 inches long. And Milk snakes get around 36-72 inches. So really they all get around the same size they all have the same requirements; such as heating feeding, cage size, Etc. But my opinion on what Snake you should get would be a Corn snake. I say this because they are the least temper mental out of the 3 snakes. Also that i have had 4 corn snakes in my life and they are very easy to care for. If I was you I would get a lavender cornsnake, because it looks the coolest and my friend has one. They are around 55$ and up.

corn snakes and rat snakes are pretty cool. You can also get a ball python too. And a hognose is kind of starter snake, but it will require a little more attention because its venomous, but not enough to kill you. The worse a hognose bite will do is make where it bit you swell up a lot. And just keep in mind that baby milk snakes aren’t the nicest animals on earth, But once they mature they’re pretty tame.
    Hope I helped =)

I have a gray banded king snake. There pretty awesome. My particular kind of king snake doesn’t get as big as most do. A Mexican black king snake would be a really cool pet snake too. They look crazy!

Definitely a King snake. I’ve had a Brook’s King snake, and a CA King snake. They are very calm and love being held.
