My suggestion is go for one either side of Greenlane – either down Great South Rd, or Manukau Rd, and either walk to the showgrounds, or catch a bus to the corner of Greenlane, and again walk to the Showgrounds. It’s less than 5 minutes; and the buses run along both those rodes, regularly.
Actually, they’re mostly motels out that way. Good hotels are nearer to the centre of the city.
There are heaps of motels right across the road from the showgrounds.
Try the: Knights Inn, Epsom Motel, Abella Court, Parklane Motor Court.
It can be a noisy road to sleep near, especially on a Fri/Sat night, so when looking for a room, try to get one near the back of the property.
